Chronicle is built on a single principle: your relationships are private. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why.

1. What we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. Nothing else is required.

People and milestones. The names, relationship notes, and milestone dates you add to Chronicle are stored securely and are private to you by default. You control everything.

Usage data. We collect basic, anonymised analytics (screens visited, actions taken) to improve the app. This data is never linked to your identity and is never sold.

2. What we never collect

• Birth years. Chronicle stores month and day for birthdays. The year field is optional, stored privately if provided, and is never transmitted to anyone — not other users, not us. This is a hard technical constraint, not a policy preference.
• Social media data. We never scrape Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, or any other platform. Every data point in Chronicle is entered by you, or shared with your explicit consent.
• Location data. Chronicle does not request or store your location.
• Payment information. We do not currently process payments. If we introduce subscriptions, payments will be handled by Apple or Stripe — we will never see your card details.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to provide the Chronicle service — nothing more. Specifically:

• To show you reminders and milestone alerts
• To enable the sharing features you explicitly choose to use
• To send transactional emails (password reset, waitlist confirmation)
• To improve the app through anonymised usage analytics

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as described below.

4. Sharing and third parties

Supabase. Our database and authentication provider. Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure (AWS, EU-West region). Supabase does not have access to the content of your data.

Apple. The app is distributed via the App Store. Apple's standard app store terms apply to the download transaction.

No other third parties receive your personal data. We do not use advertising SDKs, social login providers, or data brokers.

5. Sharing between users

Chronicle's sharing features are fully consent-based. Nothing you add is visible to other users unless you explicitly choose to share it via My Card. When you share a milestone:

• You select exactly which milestones are shared
• You select exactly who can see them
• You can revoke sharing at any time
• Revoking sharing removes the data from the recipient's view within seconds

6. Data retention and deletion

You own your data. If you delete your Chronicle account:

• All your personal data — account, people, milestones, notes, shared data — is permanently deleted immediately
• We do not archive deleted accounts
• We do not soft-delete. Deletion is permanent and irreversible
• Any data you had shared with other users is also removed from their accounts

We retain anonymised, aggregated analytics data (not linked to your account) indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

7. Security

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We follow current best practices for authentication and access control. Chronicle is built on Supabase with Row Level Security enforced at the database layer — your data is isolated from other users' data by technical controls, not just policy.

8. Children

Chronicle is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

9. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly within the app. For anything else, contact us at hello@trychronicle.app.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you via email or in-app notification before the changes take effect. Continued use of Chronicle after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

These terms govern your use of Chronicle, a relationship milestone app developed by Sameer Dhingra ("we", "us"). By using Chronicle, you agree to these terms.

1. The service

Chronicle is a personal relationship management app that helps you track milestones and stay connected with the people who matter to you. The app is currently in private beta. Features, pricing, and availability may change.

2. Your account

You must be 13 or older to use Chronicle. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must not share your account with others. You must not use Chronicle for any unlawful purpose.

3. Your content

You own everything you add to Chronicle — people, milestones, notes, and any other content. By using Chronicle, you grant us a limited licence to store and process this content solely to provide the service to you. We do not use your content for any other purpose.

You are responsible for the content you add. You agree not to add content that is false, defamatory, harassing, or in violation of any third party's rights.

4. Sharing features

Chronicle's sharing features allow you to share your own milestone data with other Chronicle users. You are responsible for what you choose to share. You must only share information you have the right to share. You must obtain any necessary consent from people whose information you share.

5. Beta service

Chronicle is currently in private beta. This means:

• The service may be interrupted, modified, or discontinued at any time
• Features shown on our website may not yet be available in the app
• We may ask for your feedback to improve the product
• We make no guarantees about uptime, data persistence, or feature availability during beta

We will make reasonable efforts to preserve your data, but we recommend not relying solely on Chronicle for critical information during the beta period.

6. Intellectual property

The Chronicle name, logo, app design, and all original content on our website are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

7. Privacy

Your use of Chronicle is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference. Please read it — it explains our strong privacy commitments in plain language.

8. Disclaimers

Chronicle is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular feature will remain available. We are not responsible for any decisions you make based on information stored in Chronicle.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Chronicle. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Chronicle will not exceed the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months (which, during beta, is zero).

10. Termination

You may stop using Chronicle at any time and delete your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Chronicle after that date constitutes acceptance.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
